John was born at the Ship Inn, Bala, his parents were the Inn Keepers.
Elizabeth was born in Brithdir, Dolgellau.
She met John when she worked at the Plas Coch Hotel, Bala.
They married in 1901 and took over the tenancy at The Dudley Arms.
John and Elizabeth had 11 children. Richard (emigrated to Brooklyn in 1920) John, Nancy, Llewelyn, Mary (Marie), Elizabeth (Betty), Jane (Jeanie), Gwen Marion (Marion), Huw, Dorothy and Arthur.
